Ecological Landscaping
We define ourselves as ecological landscapers because we take into consideration the relationships between plants and animals in natural communities. We enhance those relationships to create a stronger, healthier environment that maintains and preserves the natural beauty and balance of the local landscape. We believe that gardening with local native plants is essential to providing a regional identity to a designed landscape and nestling a house in its natural surroundings.

Design Consultation & Estimate for Landscape Installations:
All our garden installations start with an on-site visit to your property. We discuss your vision for the landscape, exchange ideas and assess the site conditions. Photos are taken and a proposal and estimate are returned via email for you to consider and for us to discuss further. Please be aware that we are offered more projects than we can accept, so a meeting does not guarantee we will be able to take on all landscape work. We mainly look for projects that are biodiverse and will benefit wildlife, especially pollinators. A property fenced for deer, or where a homeowner is willing to add deer fencing, will be given priority as deer resistant plants limit our ability to create biodiversity. Any design ideas that come from the meetings are yours to keep, and we like to think our plant lists and resources will be helpful whether we do the project, if you hire one of our referrals, or you do the work yourself.
The on-site visit and estimate/design feedback is $150. At this time we are only working in Ulster County with a focus on Kerhonkson, Accord, Stone Ridge, High Falls, Olivebridge, and Shokan. For other areas, we might have to give you a referral depending on what you are interested in.
If you would like to book a meeting to discuss your garden project, please fill out the contact box form on the home page and include your address; it is the most efficient way to schedule an appointment.

Garden Coaching with Karin Ursula Edmondson:
We understand that many people have a vision of the garden they would like to create, but do not have the technical skill or horticultural savvy to make their dream a reality, and that’s when a Garden Coach can be of service. A coach is a combination consultant, designer, and landscaper who helps you analyze your property and guides you through the process of creating the garden of your dreams. We are happy to announce that Karin Ursula Edmondson of Karin Ursula Landscapes has agreed to partner with us and coach our clients to become better gardeners in an environmentally and sustainable way. Whether you’re a beginning gardener or an advanced gardener, Karin can use her expertise to teach you efficient gardening techniques while showing you how to create beautiful, biodiverse landscapes. She can also draft a scaled landscape plan for your property to be implemented over time. Karin does not have a landscape crew so you will be expected to do the labor yourself or with people you hire.
