One ot the harbingers of Spring, Bloodroot,
Sanguinaria canadensis, is found mostly at lower elevations in the
Catskills. While the flowers only last a few days, they are
soon replaced by interesting foliage and seed pods. In the
evening, the flowers close and look a little like a small tulip
(left).
