Yellowwood
Cladrastis kentukea
A rare tree, both in it's wild haunts, the southern Appalachians, and gardens. It shouldn't be rare in gardens because it's one of the most beautiful of North American trees. Clusters of white, wisteria-like flowers dangle profusely from branch tips. To maximize flowering, plant in full sun - even then the tree may not flower each and every year. We also carry the cultivar 'Arnold's Pink' with, you guessed it, pink flowers. Fall color is a bright, golden yellow. Bark is a smooth gray - similar to American Beech.
